AI Technology Assessment
Just because you can deploy a Generative AI Large Language Model or an RPA widget that outputs Excel reports does not mean you should. There needs to be compelling value and ROI as a result of the impact generated from the advanced technology solution you deploy.

A NSS AI Technology Assessment can help identify the right solutions to build based on the need within the organization. We can also project the estimated impact of the solution within your organization over time.

Assessing AI Use Cases should include consideration of broader organizational implications such as strategic alignment, adoption, security, investment, and risk. Let's take a look at how NSS performs an AI Technology Assessment.

Determine Organizational Readiness
The first step in an AI Assessment is to determine the client's readiness for AI adoption. It's important to determine the true impact that AI can make based on factors important to the client. NSS evaluates the technology readiness of a client by considering and establishing the baseline for strategic alignment, adoption, security, investment, and risk by leveraging a maturity indicator for each of the factors. Doing this helps NSS determine organizational readiness.

Organizational maturity is considered for each factor as follows:

-
Strategic Alignment - AI is a transformation technology that can change the way process are executed and the day-to-day work of employees. It is critical for key stakeholders to have aligned expectations for value.
-
Adoption - Value can only be realized when technology adoption is fully embraced. Tailored change management approaches will be necessary for true transformation.
-
Security - Organizational security requirements must be met by AI technologies for them to be deployed in production environments and at the enterprise level. This process can slow the pace of adoption.
-
Investment - AI implementation will require investment depending on the scope of the use case. The investment increases with scale and complexity.
-
Risk - AI implementation risks must be identified and mitigated by organizations to ensure successful adoption. Risks of varying levels should be communicated to allow the organization to right size their AI solution approach.

Evaluate Technology Candidates
Determining what AI solution should be built and deployed is the most crucial step in an AI Assessment. These solutions can transform the way a business performs in their market. NSS leverages a use case assessment rubric to detemine the anticipated mission value to execution and the level of investment required to build the AI solution through the evaluation of multiple use case sub-elements.

Each use case receives a score (High, Neutral, Low) for each sub-element in the rubric. Value scores are weighted based on priority to the organization. These scores are averaged to give an overall score for Value and Investment Required. Ideal AI candidates have a higher Mission Value score (“benefits”) and lower Investment Required score (“costs”).

Candidates Selected
At this point, NSS has determined the organizational readiness to adopt and deploy the right AI solution. We've also gathered empirical data detailing the right AI use cases based on mission value and investment required.

We then share the results and outline the projected impact that can be made with the identified AI solutions.

Our next steps include sharing a proposal with approach and pricing as well as aligning a team to design, build, and deploy the solution with you and for you!
